I need your help.

To my community,

There is an unrest I have felt for months now. A call to use my gift in photography to bring awareness to evil in this world and connect people with ways they can help. It’s hard to know where to start, but maybe you can help.

Last year around this time it came to my attention that child marriage is still legal here in the United States. So, I did what I usually do and I took to Google. I found one organization here in the US that is centered around changing to these marriage laws.

"Child marriage is legal in the U.S., and an estimated 248,000 children as young as 12 were married here between 2000 and 2010. Almost all were girls wed to adult men." via Unchained At Last

Women Empowerment is something I am passionate about; helping young women see their beauty, worth, and potential. In the last year, this organization has made huge strides to help change the laws, mentor young women, and offer free representation in court to help them safely end the forced contract.

As my professor taught me, I am taking a stand for something I feel pulled toward, but I need your help. I am looking for women of all ages from 12-99+ for a photo series to shed on light on this issue in order further protect the innocence and childhood of young women in the US and worldwide. Will you daughter help me take a stand for girls who don't have anyone standing for them?

Other ways you can help if you’re not located in Charlotte:

  • Donate a “wedding dress” or veil, or find a dress or veil to donate at a Thrift store. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just needs to be a white formal dress.

I always thought that goodness in the world would awaken me to my highest spiritual self. But, it’s evil that has taught me the most; that has brought me to advocate for innocence so fiercely.
